If these apocryphal discussions have taught me anything, it’s that the bigger picture is most definitely blurred from our view and that there is so much more to know.

Semantics: <br>Resurrection is being raise to an immortal glorified state.<br>Jesus was the first resurrection.<br>Anyone who was brought back to a mortal state before Jesus’s resurrection was simply brought back to life, still fated to die someday.<br><br>Still a similitude of the promised Savior who would be the first to rise and brake the bonds of death.

The corkboard in my brain where I put a pin in things until I can understand them better is getting filled up, mostly by topics presented by Jonah Barnes. But I’m here for it! Nice work!

An interesting anecdote, is Isaac willingly gave himself up. That is a hugely important part of the story. While the covenant bears Abraham's name it was as much Isaac's as he was the one that sealed the covenant with his sacrifice. Further being a type and shadow of Christ's atonement.

one thing still remains true, Isaac was not a child, he was an adult. He was willing to be that sacrifice willingly.

Jonah, I've been following you with great interest, but I have personal experience with an offering not having to go through to be accepted, so I believe that Abraham didn't have to go through with it for it to be accounted for justice. <br><br>I won't speak much detail, because it is a sacred experience, but as a missionary, I encountered a dying person, and I tried to bless them. For the first time in my life I felt that this blessing couldn't be done. I thought that it was because my "unworthiness" (quotations because I was not really unworthy, but I could do better) <br><br>I spend the night praying and asking for forgiveness. Then, after many hours, the impression came to my mind: "What price would you be willing to pay for this miracle?" (Not exactly like that, but that was the idea)<br>I don't remember what I said, but I kept pleading. Then the most clear impression came: "Would you be willing to suffer (sonething bad I won't mention)"<br>I cried. Because that something was too much. I didn't think I could go through with that. After crying and praying some more, I said "okay, I'll do it." And then the impression came: "Go and bless (the person) and you won't have to suffer (that thing)."<br>I blessed the person and God worked the miracle. Even the doctor said the word miracle when seeing the person again.<br>I know God accepted my offering of a willing heart, my submission to something I really didn't want, even though I didn't have to go through with it. <br>I know God accepts the heart and the mind, and that offering that willingness is a "work" that justifies and gives life to our Faith.

Could this be one of the things Joseph Smith was talking about when he said "If I revealed all that has been made known to me, scarcely a man on this stand would stay with me."?

This was one of my favorite episodes. The very few times I've chatted with JB on the Discord, we've been on the same page there, as well. Love JB. <br><br>This episode needs to be watched by Christians and Jews, too. Not just us Moes.

I love going deep into this stuff. One question. I still have 10 minutes left in the video so maybe you cover it. But the JST still includes the angel and ram that stops Abraham from going through with it. He didn’t correct that part of the story. So how do we reconcile that?

Just found this and it makes more sense now: D&C 132:36 "Abraham was commanded to offer his son Isaac; nevertheless, it was written: Thou shalt not kill. Abraham, however, did not refuse, and it was accounted unto him for righteousness."
