A friend worked as a waiter at one of his restaurants in London years ago at the peak of all his TV shows, apparently at least according to her in person he's a really stand up boss, no swearing, no shouting, always made sure the staff had tasted the menu and were trained on the ingredients and techniques etc.

“HI I’M NINO!” will never NOT be one of the funniest clips of Kitchen Nightmares imo.
Besides every “are you stupid” or “DONUT!” from Gordon 🙃

Did Nino even want to work at the restaurant? It seems like his heart isn’t in it, and maybe he felt pressured to take over; especially because it’s named after him. Maybe the reason why he didn’t seem so phased by the “prank” is because it came as a relief.

Shout out to the editor Jason, making these watchable without getting a copyright strike is a while different type of skill

Oof. That episode was hard to watch on Michael and Nino's side. Michael wasn't helpful, but you must imagine how often he's seen this song and dance. Nino is in his 60s, and the guy acts like a 12-year-old. You can see it in the way he argued with Gordon. It was dinner service, and his first instinct was to go sit down with his parents in the back of the restaurant and eat. The guy assumes someone else will do it. Michael is that frustrated younger sibling who you know needs to step in to cover for Nino for everything. Nino has been given a cushy job by his parents where he comes in, does nothing all day, and his younger siblings get angry because he gets away with it. The sister was the one who managed herself the best, but she also runs a social media company and was very aware of the TV show going on at all times. She knew how to present herself. Meanwhile, Michael's hearing the twentieth "We're going to clean the slate, just give Nino a chance to try" conversation in his life is burning him out because you can see he was hoping Gordon was going to put his brother in his place. But judging by the restaurant's closing and Nino disappearing...nothing changed.

20:49 as a slob with ADHD. I actually do take before and after photos when I’m getting ready to clean to prove that I did it. But that’s because I have a mental disability.

I get the feeling Nino was automatically the golden child purely because he was the oldest, and the other two siblings (especially Michael) resented this, and felt they had to earn their approval more. And Nino probably got babied a lot, and got away with everything, including being lazy, which is why he probably has an ego, but might not be completely sure of what he's doing wrong, because his parents validate everything he does anyway. And this is why Michael is so salty towards him, because he feels he has to prove his worth.

There's a weird amount of episodes of KN where an Italian family has one son that's been babied his whole life and is running down their restaurant.

There's a term people in recovery use called "dry drunk." It's when you're not actually consuming the substance but you're still refusing to address the issues and behaviors that drove it. Often it can be even worse because the person can say "yeah I'm being an asshole but at least I'm not drinking or using". That's pretty clearly what this guy was doing.

I did a little research and found that Nino is the father's (Vincenzo) nickname, so the 'Nino' that appeared in the episode is a Jr., and the restaurant was most likely named after the father (though, maybe the father was hoping from the beginning to pass it on to his firstborn son to keep the legacy going, which would justify the desperation to get help to continue it under Jr's 'leadership').

Oh I know this infamous episode and it still pisses me off. I know Michael doesn't come off good, but Nino is clearly the Golden Child in this family dynamic, whereas the other two have busted their asses outside of the family business and made good careers for themselves, especially the sister. And it just feels like Nino gets given so many opportunities and wastes them
