Was always as big fan of Mandlikova s game. Was a little surprised she never won more big ones than she did ...<br>Some WORLD CLASS volleys in the match

Gee I miss Chris Everts class, She truly means to congratulate Hana for a great tournament and she was right, Hana was a future champion just 5 years later. Each tournament year the wear and tear being a professional athlete ages their bodies. Each year they hit a ton of balls. Think of how many balls Chris hit from age 8 to 34 when she retitired, mostly in the court. That consistency, at 4-4 30-30 one knew Evert was not going to suddenly dump the ball in the net, so the opponent knowing Chris is not going to miss goes for a bit more and opponent more than often made an unforced error. It was really forced because they went for more because Chris wasn’t going to miss. Chris would watch the ball fly out and knew she caused her opponent to miss. Here Hana is a mercurial player, playing unbelievably well for stretches of 3-4 points then she’d miss 2 easy set ups. She could hit every shot in the book and knowing this took time to discipline herself and commit early to her shot. That’s what she did in Open 85 ton beat Evert in the Sf, Chris s legs were dead tired and ran out of passing shots then beat Navratilova 7-6 in the third set. Hana deserved a Wimbledon title but settled on two AO, 1 French, 1 US Open . By 85-87 Hana was a solid 3 or 4 and a great player. Evert beat Hana at the open in 1980,1981,1982,and 1983. Basset beat Hana in QF in 1984 so Basset lost to a very fit Evert in 84 Open .
