  1) Correction: I said &quot;10 thousand watts of energy per person&quot;. It should be &quot;10 thousand watts of power per person&quot;. But the broader point is still correct: Oil is equivalent to 100+ people working for us for nearly free.<br><br>2) I only briefly touched on other pressures like climate change, which really deserves its own video. Fossil fuels have been the largest source of additional greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. This destabilizes our climates and intensifies the risks from wildfires, flood, drought, crop failures, etc. This is perhaps the greatest hidden debt of our civilization bubble. I also mentioned other resource depletions like copper, aquifer and top soil. But there are more, lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, phosphorus, timber, fisheries, etc. Then there’s our increasingly fractured political system, another form of hidden debt, which further undermines our ability to adapt and transform. So I don’t think there’s one resource that simply “runs out” and causes civilization to collapse. The bigger concern is how they all interact. This complexity makes building resilient systems even more important.<br><br>3) What do you think? Are we using our fossil-fuel inheritance to build something that can outlast it? What else am I missing?

  I wish you hadn&apos;t framed this as a bubble, because it isn&apos;t. A bubble specifically is when something is overinvested in and can&apos;t pay for itself fast enough, but oil investment absolutely has paid for itself. A supply shortage is if anything exactly the opposite problem to a bubble.

  They keep saying there are these unfilled jobs, but when you apply for them they either ghost you or say you don’t have enough experience. So many businesses post help wanted ads online today and applicants discover there is no job available. <br><br>You can only apply online and wait for someone (or something) to reply, sometime weeks later. &nbsp;You go through rounds of interviews without actually meeting the actual decision maker who hires you. Entry level jobs require prospective employees to already have acquired experience or credentials since companies no longer want invest their time or resources to train on the job. You must already have the needless qualifications beforehand taking the job.
