So impressed with this guy, so much work ahead of him but he dug right in undaunted with some tricks up his sleeve to solve the unexpected obstacles that inevitably presented themselves. I tackled tasks like this in my many Chevys when I was young and ambitious, not sure I would have the perseverance today. This specimen is a great car to restore, given such great basic shape it was in. These Chryslers were bulletproof, this one was born the same year I was... and we both look and run pretty good now...

Great job. I hope more people preserve '30's and '40's cars in factory original condition. Too many restomods out there.

Never try to dry crank an old engine after you remove the plugs put about 2 oz of Marvel Mystery Oil into each cylinder let it sit at least for a day then try to rotate it with a wrench on the crankshaft pulley or by pulling on the fan. Once the engine will rotate by hand, you can nudge it a little at a time with a starter. When the engine spins freely with the starter leave the plugs out and try to extract all of the Marvel Mystery Oil buy spinning it with the starter. Be sure there is no liquid left in the cylinder

My buddy Dan had a ‘49 Dodge that was mint in 1968. Fluid Drive, mohair upholstery, and rode like a dream. Loved that car. Thanks for the memory jog!
