  This was the Danish National Concert Orchestra and Choir. The concert was recorded for Danish TV. Every instrument and voice was individually mic'd-----over 70 mics were used and it was recorded over 100 channels. In my opinion the best classical/rock concert ever recorded. It's best not not try to explain the lyrics. The writer said it was his intention to create a mood rather than relate a story. Originally described as prog rock.

  This song was released in 1967. I was 15. It was a sound no one was prepared for. Took the rock scene by storm.

  In May 1967 my 39 year old uncle (also a pianist) predicted that this song would be one of the most successful songs ever. He was suffering with terminal cancer of the oesophagus at the time and sadly passed away a couple of months later in July 67. As a 3 year old I shouldn’t have been capable of recalling the emotions of my mother at the loss of her brother but it’s this song that has made this a reality. As soon as those piano keys hit the notes I’m transported back to those days but now it gives me comfort that my mother was able to link this song with the loss of her brother. This song has an indescribable quality that clearly means different things to different people, but for many it fills them with emotion from somewhere!

  This is one of the absolute anthems of the 1960s. I think I heard that John Lennon said it was the only song that he wish he would have written! The lyrics are just a mood, surrealism mixed with psychedelia. &nbsp;The organ line is pure Bach. But just imagine a rock band with enough classical training to turn a baroque inspiration into a top rock song. &nbsp;And imagine that the population could appreciate it. &nbsp;In today&apos;s world, the musicians have changed, the population of listeners has changed and the music industry would never allow such a song to see the light of day.

  One of the greatest musical performances ever. I don&apos;t think you can imagine what it&apos;s like to have grown up listening to the original song and then all these years later to to see and hear this production. I have so much respect for the tock musicians who didn&apos;t self destruct and instead mastered their craft and performed it right to the end. &nbsp;RIP Gary.
