I definitely agree that Burn doesn't balance the tone as well as Rise. Most of the characters were basically caricatures which I've seen other people say as well. Still enjoyed it and it was gnarly but I prefer Rise as it's both mean but funnier too

Can't believe the End of "Eden Lake" wasn't a kill that lives with u, Jack o'Connell has been a madman for a while.

I was curious where they went with the material after Rise - which was already a nosedive after the (imo) perfect remake of 2013. This one here was just not flashed out enough, the family felt sterile, no chemistry between the actors, felt like the writers and directors didn't try too hard. I really enjoyed the intro scene, setting up the film perfectly (oh it's about relationships?) and some of the choreographed scenes (first the girl then the guy getting beat up). Final boss was cgi slop at its finest.

I actually found it funnier than Rise, with Thya and Polly making me chuckle the most. The family in Rise was more engaging.

The Mummy felt more like an evil dead film than Burn

Ya know If you include the series in the lore deadites returning from nothing has happened before. Cheryl came back in Ash vs Evil Dead. Just sayin.

56:05 SPOILER COMMENT:

I was upset seeing the dog scene as well. And I feel like it wasn’t necessarily the kill itself that was so harsh but it was the way it was shot. The Evil Dead 2013 featured a dog death by Mia with a hammer. But it didn’t lean into the scene or build suspense into the moment happening like Burn did
