The Max is rated at 10.5 Volts, so most the time power supplies spike when daisy chained. If you add a 1N4148 then 100 OHM resistor then a 9V Zener Diode to ground, it will protect the charge pump circuit and keep your voltage consistent. But the Tc is a more sturdy chip.

that is worth experimenting ... I will give it a try to see if it will pop.

All the best to you and yours - family comes first!

I've made some using ICL7660S - so far no problems, but I don't daisy chain my pedals. Maybe I should try to see how it behaves. <br>

+DIY Guitar Pedals How I can take +/-18V of +9VDC? Can I use LT1054 to doubler to get +18V and then inverter +9V to -9V and boost -9V to -18V?

me too. I've been burnt (literraly) by the max 1 too many times..hope you get your maxs going, I think you might have a good chance with those regulators! All the best.

thank you!

Yeah that was my other thought. Prehaps a spike in voltage, in for a millisecond, can kill them. Plugging a power plug into another pedal could cause a spike. Regardless, im not touching them anymore :) I'll stick to the LT or TC, they are just so much more reliable. Thanks for the post, the confirmation is welcome.
