  So glad the Scottish - particularly Glaswegian accents - are immune to AI voice recognition - one layer of security from AI hearing everything we say now

  Many years ago when I was home on holiday, I stayed &nbsp;at my late sisters place. &nbsp;I was born and raised in Glasgow but I had a terrible time understanding one of my nephews, I swear he was talking another language he talked so fast and each word seemed to be a continuation of the last word, it all flowed together. &nbsp;I was getting one word out of ten. &nbsp;My daughter was totally confused and we had to ask him to slow down a bit, my bother-in-law was a little upset with me because my nephew was saying words I had never heard before told me I should understand his son as I was from Glasgow. &nbsp;Me, to him, when I was growing up I never heard anyone talk like that and I sure didn&apos;t. &nbsp;My other nephew was totally different in his speech, softer spoken but I understood every word he said and so did my daughter. &nbsp;I was starting to feel very much like a foreigner &nbsp;in my own country, I needed a translator. &nbsp;Times change I know, and I am of the older generation &nbsp;it was a different time for me growing up. Every time I hear a new word I look it up so &nbsp;that God willing if I get to make my last trip home I can understand some of the words that &nbsp;puzzle me. &nbsp;I&apos;m re-learning the &nbsp;(Glasgow Patter) &nbsp;the bits that are new to me. &nbsp;I have been gone 60 years, I live in the West Coast of California, my Scots friends are long gone and so is my Glasgow born and bred Glaswegian &nbsp;husband. &nbsp; I dearly miss the Glasgow humour, nothing can beat it.

  Having visited Glasgow many times I’ve learned two things: (1) Many Glaswegians can turn the accent up or down (2) Scots in general have a quirky sense of humor. Apparently speaking to tourists with the accent all the way up and pretending to be offended when not understood is hilarious. That said, it’s an amazing city with wonderful people

  I was born in the US to Scottish parents. I always had a good laugh looking at my friends expression on their faces when my Dad was talking to them and my friends trying to figure out what my Dad just fuking said to them. 😂😂. Half the time he was just asking them how they were doing. 😂😂

  As a native Glaswegian, I have to really compliment you on your analysis of our accent. You&apos;ve actually made me feel really quite intelligent, making me realise I mastered such a difficult accent from a very young age. However, a word of caution, don&apos;t think for &nbsp;a moment you&apos;ll understand two native speakers in deep conversation, especially after a few &apos;bevvies&apos; (drinks).

  I had the pleasure of entertaining an older guy from Chicago who was assisting us doing an installation in Glasgow. We took him out for a &quot;typical Glasgow welcome evening&quot;. &nbsp;As we poured him into his bed in the wee small hours. &nbsp;Next day his only recollection was he remembered to his ears Scottish People &quot;sang&quot; to each other when talking . Something I have always remembered.
