  The GB was an engine strapped to a wing, and the pilot hanging on for dear life. &nbsp;And Jimmy Doolittle hung on the best.

  I met Jimmy Doolittle!! He shook my hand and had looked at me as if I was his best friend. &nbsp;This was at the Doolittle Raiders reunion at KAFB. I was surprised how little of a guy he was but it was awesome. I was 20.

  My Grandfather joined the Army Aircorps in 1920 best of my knowledge , pop was a Master Sergeant &nbsp;he crew chiefed planes for Jimmy Doolittle and Curtis Lamay . <br>Jimmy asked grandpa to crew his plane when they flew to Japan he turned him down because of my mother when she was a baby . &nbsp;He told Doolittle you all are going in drink . &nbsp;Wish we had recorded all his stories. <br>Grandpa was in England and the Philippines before he came home during WW2

  The torque on the aircraft at the beginning of the film must have been something else.

  I think what&apos;s most upsetting is we as the human race have reached innovation I look at this and can&apos;t imagine the feeling of what 300 miles an hour looked like but knowing what an SR-71 looks like flying this is quite slow. I wish I could feel the same joy that everyone in this film felt.

  My friend Jimmy Doolittle told me that the Gee Bee wanted to fly upside and backwards at the same time....this was my father&apos;s era growing up, Roscoe Turner lived around the corner from him. Great time for aviation.

  It must&apos;ve been a great feeling to build and use those machines back then. Everything about it was new and trial and error was the way to go. They surely had plenty of ideas that failed after being built and tried but the ones that worked out had to have made everything worth it and then some. Now people can model their ideas and simulate most things without needing to build it to see the results. I still like to build and modify things based on an idea and find out if it works.
