The question should be like " prove that x=9 and y=4" for those saying the answer by just looking at it

I don't think this is a hard problem. The fact that x, y are integers is a big hint.
1) As sum of the sqrt of integer and an integer is an integer from the two equations, x & y must be squares.
2) x > y (as the sum where x appears is greater)
3) From eq. 1, we have y must be a square < 7 and from eq. 2, we have x must be a square < 11, so y = {1,4} and x = {1,4,9}
From (2) and (3) above, x = {4,9} and y = {1,4}.
Checking with x = 9 in eq. 2 yields y = 4. If we check with x = 4, y = sqrt(7), which is not possible as y must be an integer
Therefore x, y = {9, 4}

we can solve this using bounding also quite easily
root x = 7-y>0 this implies y < 7 and is a perfect square
hence y = {0,1,4}
also x = 11 - rooty and x is a perfect square
putting values of y(0,1,4) which satisfy the above eq
we get x = 9 and y = 4

I've become fascinated by math too late in life. I muddled through in high school before understanding the beauty in it.😢

everyone is talking abt trial and error, and rn if i say 'solve WITHOUT trial and error', everyone will go against me saying something like 'end result is same' or 'at least i solved it'. for objective its ok we need quick answers but subjective, u NEED to know the way
