A civilization at the center of the Boötes Void could look up, see almost nothing and reasonably conclude they were completely alone in the universe They'd have no way of knowing they were wrong

Which raises an uncomfortable question: what if WE are missing something too for the exact same reason?

What do you think we might be wrong about, without even knowing it? 👇

The vastness of space is so endless and mysterious that my heart beats faster when I think about it

In this void the night sky wouldn't be less luminous, or less populated with stars with naked eyes. We can only see a few thousand of our closest neighbours. The sky there would be identical.

Judging how close a galaxy is to the middle of the Bootes void, you MAY be able to see a lone galaxy due to the fact that the Bootes Void contains 60 galaxies so far (We haven’t found further) The rough estimate should be a Galaxy every 10 Million light years. So if a galaxy was close to the absolute center of the Bootes void, you could be able to see a faint galaxy in the near distance.

And I’m just sitting here drinking dark roast out of my favorite mug, watching the leaves fall, setting pumpkins out on my porch lol. Earth is a pretty damn interesting place.
