  I don’t like the stereotype that step-parents are evil. My biological dad left me, my brother, and my sister when we were young. My mom remarried and my step dad has been everything my biological dad hasn’t. When filling out paperwork I forget sometimes that we aren’t blood related because he’s always been my father

  About two years ago, I asked my step dad to adopt me. He had been with us for almost 4 years before him and my mom got married almost three years ago. I wrote him a note for christmas asking if he would officially be my dad, and when he read it he asked if I was serious and we all started crying. He has been more of a dad than my own biological "father" ever will be. He even asked for my permission to marry my mom. He is an amazing man and will always be my dad :)

  My husband died when my 2 children were babies. I remarried 9 years later. My husband has been the only father my 2 have known. They consider him dad. My son being the only one that carries his bio fathers name into the next generation asked about my husband adopting him. My husband in his wisdom said I will but you can keep your dad’s name so it lives on. So he adopted my 2 but didn’t change my sons last name. It was his way of honoring my late husband but loving our kids!
