  More than 30 years ago, I used to frequent this restaurant when it served some of the finest döner in Istanbul. Back then, the absolute benchmark for the dish nationwide was Kemer Döner a legendary spot on Sakarya Caddesi in Ankara, right across from Hosta. Though Kemer—run by a large family from Trabzon—closed its doors long ago, I still vividly recall the taste of their food after all these years. Remarkably, Karadeniz Döner offers a style that is incredibly close to that unforgettable Kemer Döner flavour.

  This is what real Turkish döner is.<br><br>They don’t drown it in sauces because they want you to actually taste the meat. Places that don’t trust the quality of their meat often try to hide it with heavy sauces and melted cheese.<br><br>They even bake their own bread in-house. Simple, authentic, and exactly how döner should be.<br><br>Unfortunately, many places in Europe and in tourist areas of Istanbul get it completely wrong. They pile on garlic sauce, mayonnaise, cheese, and other toppings until you can’t taste the meat anymore—everything ends up tasting like the sauce instead of the döner.

  that is some legit beautiful looking food!! yum yum yum 😋 wish i could eat there! the meat &amp; the bread look perfect. <br>i cooked in a restaurant once where waitstaff had to carry the food up 2 flights of stairs, too… thats a tough job (i’d rather cook)
