  For those wondering with Munchlax, if you save before checking a honey tree, you can soft reset for the same pokemon, but both the gender and shininess will be rerolled. Yeah, you normally only have a 6 hour period to do it, but if you try to modify the date or time on your DS/3DS/emulator, it&apos;ll soft lock the game from any time based events for 24 hours, allowing you to just repeatedly soft lock that to keep soft resetting until the Munchlax is shiny

  Things I learned when pokechaining as a kid. Only go to a patch of grass that shakes 4 spaces away from you that’s not in a straight line from your character, if it’s 4 patches away from you in a straight line don’t go into it like that cacturne at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nu5SnkOxMec&amp;t=2090">34:50</a>. Also never go into a patch of grass that’s right on the border or in a corner touching the border like that cacturne also and the spearow later on in the video. Happy to be able to say I got really good at this method as a kid, got lots of shinies. Wish they kept it in the newer games.
