As a new person to gemstone faceting I also have no idea what I'm doing and I can't stress enough how important your video was for me to find community in that

As a person who has already cut 25 stones, I understand your difficulties and it was quite funny for me to watch your endeavors.

This is like watching the history of mankind. Must find food, shelter, fire, somehow.

I needed this video. The honesty alone was cathartic. The positivity was on point for current gem cutter me and future gem cutter me!

I respect you actually trying to learn something new. Too many people don’t let themselves fail and thus never develop unique skills. That being said, when the stone flew off the dop immediately after hitting that 80 grit I laughed quite hard. 😂 thanks for that

Im getting the same machine, i got a cutting kit accessory pack from Turtles Hoard, that comes with some replacement parts for this machine and starter stuff (some stuff you have already), very excited to learn along with you! i plan on learning the machine with just cutting glass pebbles from the dollar store first, also going to get myself a magnifier. please keep posting your progress! i also watched some videos from Matts Corner of Gem Cutting on how to read diagrams

machines help to some extent, the important thing is to have magic hands, good video, good luck 💎🧐

Not sure if you're still cutting, but I recommend buying the CutKit package from Trutle's Horde - it's basically a couple hundred bucks of add-ons that make the vevor much, much more usable. Definitely recommend swapping the nut that holds the mast to the base for a wing nut at the very least, so you don't need a wrench every time you re-position.

I started with a machine like this it was very frustrating, but i was able to finish a stone. If you enjoy it on a bad machine a good machine like a Ultratech makes it a dream.

Everyone is a novice the first time. You still produced a decent result.
