  Humans thrived long before the grid. Greed has made living in society so expensive and the level of conformity required is RIDICULOUS.

  Slab City has been a <b>thing</b> for decades (I live nearby.) The big difference NOW is that there are 10x more people out there, fueled no doubt by the far reach of social media and youtube and the younger generations discovering it, and more people experiencing homelessness....hurray for Slab City!

  I spent some time there early in my RV Life and was impressed with the sense of community there. It&apos;s amazing to see people who society would say have nothing, giving what they have to others. Meanwhile, the richest people in our society just keep taking.<br>THIS is what humanity looks like. <br>I&apos;m glad there&apos;s a Slab City.

  Spent much of my life working for/on the ranches of the wealthy. They never paid much, nor appreciated my life&apos;s work. I gained a lot of experience in many trades over the years which you can&apos;t &nbsp;buy, you have to live it. Never been &apos;homeless&apos;, but did live in a van off and on when there was no housing provided, while working hard full-time in upscale rural areas, or out-of-the- way rural areas where there was no housing available w/in reasonable commuting distance. <br>Long story short...I bought a small rural in the Central Sierra &nbsp;foothills 24 years and have been working for myself ever since. Wished I had found it sooner, but am grateful that I didn&apos;t wait any longer. &nbsp;I work hard on it daily...keeps me occupied, off the streets and the views are excellent. Got 2 deep wells and plenty of installed storage, plus the knowledge and skills to keep things maintained and functioning. Almost finished with a diy off-grid solar system, which should be more reliable than the expensive PG&amp;E &apos;dis-$ervice&apos; grid power. The sun shines brightly here, below most of the high country snows and above the valley fogs. I feel blessed daily.

  I love how he said refugee&apos;s ,because when you are forced out or running for your life for survival, your an American refugee. Especially when your harassed in cities by police or people and there so quick to just shoot or kill each other.
