  You need to remember too that the Band produces a different half tie show for every home game, so many of these shows are preceded by just one, or at most two, weeks of practice, in which they have to memorize all the music and the drill. They have earned their reputation as The Best Damn Band in the Land. Every year potential Band members attend voluntary practices twice a week for three months through the Summer to prepare to try out for the Band, Over 400 of them will compete for the 225 spots in the Band, and being in the Band one year does not guarantee a place for the following year.

He leads the band BUT is not the conductor, that is usually the instructor/professor in charge of running the marching band you see standing on the ladder at the bottom of the field. Other schools vary on who conducts, etc. His/Her job at THE Ohio State University is to lead the band out, have showmanship and athleticism, and execute the shoots traditions on game day.   Ohio State came to London I think in 2015. The video from that show is on youtube as well.

  The performance is also on the Jumbotron in the Stadium so all can see the same view we see; no detail is left out…

  For some unknown reason Americans are really good at logistics, which this is a good example. &nbsp;Witness two would wars with the most recent being across two oceans. &nbsp;The Germans couldn&apos;t even cross the English Channel. &nbsp;As mentioned in a previous video, they learn these things in one to two weeks of practice including the music. &nbsp;The tubas are called Sousaphones that wrap around the player for marching purposes. &nbsp;Concert tubas sit on the player&apos;s lap. &nbsp;The drum major does lots of baton tricks. The director is atop the ladder at the bottom of the field with two assistants at points to left and right so the drummers - mainly - can stay on point with the music. &nbsp;It was loads of fun to be in the marching band which I did in high school and through my undergrad degree at university. &nbsp;Most high schools in America field a marching band.

  The guy in the red uniform is the Drum Major. The Music Director is standing on a platform at the end of the 50 Yard line.

  <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nb74uJDFV1s&amp;t=402">6:42</a> yes the drum major is like the band leader but the conductor is the is the guy on the side line in black. The he guy that got eaten by the dinosaur was someone dressed up like a player for the &nbsp;Michigan team and if you watch closely at the end of the song the dinosaur spits out the guys helmet. The drum major was inside the dinosaurs middle the whole time. The roll of the drum major is kind of complex and I don’t know all of his responsibilities.

  OSU at Wembley for the NFL is a good one.<br><br>Yes, they do a show for each home game, there&apos;s 12 regular season games a year, 7-ish are gonna be home games. &nbsp;They do a show and we don&apos;t see them do it again generally. &nbsp;There&apos;s probably been some exceptions.
