This morning at Mo Chit - Chatchart reveals drainage plan for Bangkok: The priority is to reduce water levels in major canals before pumping water out of flooded areas. Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt revealed the drainage plan for areas still experiencing flooding in Bangkok. First, the focus is on reducing water levels in four main canals. Currently, water levels in Khlong Prem Prachakorn, Khlong Lat Phrao, and Khlong Saen Saep have decreased, improving the situation. Only Khlong Prawet Buriram remains a concern, flowing towards Lat Krabang district. Due to its length and the fact that Lat Krabang also receives water from upstream areas on the eastern bank, the situation is improving. Regarding water from the north, Governor Chatchart stated that areas along the Chao Phraya River must reinforce flood barriers or dikes higher than 3 meters. The key is to separate and manage upstream water from rainwater. This is because upstream water is easier to predict and warn about, while rainwater is more difficult to forecast. Patiphan, a 7HD news team member, checked the water level of the Chao Phraya River near Wat Kalayanamit yesterday afternoon and found the water level to be back to normal. However, around 8:00 PM every day, the Chao Phraya River, influenced by tidal surges, overflows and floods communities by about a hand's length. Residents and the Thonburi District Office are preparing sandbags and building temporary bridges after receiving news that upstream water is causing the Chao Phraya River to rise. Meanwhile, at the Bang Sue Pumping Station, the Chao Phraya River is currently at 154 centimeters from the riverbank, which is still below the warning level. Officials at the pumping station reported that since the widespread flooding in Bangkok, the highest water level at the station reached 224 centimeters at 8:00 PM on September 27th, before stabilizing at a normal level. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is constructing a "network of giant drainage tunnels" to address flooding problems in low-lying areas of Bang Sue, Chatuchak, Phaya Thai, and Din Daeng districts. These tunnels can divert water from major roads such as Ratchadaphisek Road, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, and Phahonyothin Road. The water is being channeled directly into the Chao Phraya River without relying solely on the normal canal system. Meanwhile, 14 water-pushing boats deployed by the Royal Thai Navy in Khlong Prawet Buriram, Lat Krabang district, are accelerating water drainage into the Bang Pakong River and Khlong Phra Ong Chaiyanuchit, ultimately flowing into the Gulf of Thailand. Each boat can push approximately 4,000 cubic meters of water per hour. The director of the Thonburi Naval Dockyard believes that if there is no further upstream flooding, the situation will resolve quickly. As for the water situation in Khlong Prawet Buriram, on the eastern side of Lat Krabang district, it remains critical with high water levels. This is because it is a main canal receiving a large volume of floodwater from surrounding communities and retention ponds, constantly overflowing. Furthermore, the canal's winding nature makes water drainage difficult and slow. #Channel7News #ThisMorningatMorchit #ChatchartSittiphan #Bangkok #BangkokFlooding #KhlongPrawetBurirom #LatKrabang #RoyalThaiNavy #WaterPushingBoat #Flood2026 Follow Channel 7HD News on: Application: https://go.ch7.com/CH7ON Website: www.ch7.com YouTube: @ch7hdnews Facebook: Facebook: Ch7HDNews Instagram: Instagram: ch7hd X: https://x.com/ch7hd TikTok: TikTok: ch7hd_news
