  I was wondering if you guys noticed (or have to rewatch it) - the son in the back is not in the forefront, but he’s doing EXACTLY what the doctor was guiding Diana into the hypnosis.

  I also thought she shouldn&apos;t have been left to do that alone. But the narrative also consistently shows that Dan avoids facing the pain of the son&apos;s death at all costs and it was necessarily needed so that it becomes more impactful and devastating in the later scene where he finally has no choice but to face it. It&apos;s really nice to see the perspective of a professional for this show and the tidbits about the composition as well

  The staging and acting of this number is so incredible - the change in the son&apos;s demeanour from what seems like a genuine goodbye dance to him starting to cling to her, her sending him off but then holding on at the last minute. The subtle touching of her wrist on &apos;I&apos;ll show you just where&apos; is so chilling, and her face during that whole part is heart breaking. You can can see how strong she&apos;s trying to be (especially when he&apos;s hugging her on &apos;in time I know you&apos;ll see&apos; and she&apos;s trying so hard to resist). The way they both close their eyes together on &apos;free&apos;, then the son closes the music box showing that she&apos;s actually not ready to face the reality of his death. The relief on her face as she nods and gives in is just perfection.

In these moments they are united by the fact that they are all in pain (emotionally) they are all falling and need someone to catch them, but everyone around them is falling too

  during the hypnosis, the son walks the way dr. fine describes. he is a direct reflection of her mindset, i think

  The four times per week is just talk therapy - Dan said they&apos;d find someone to treat her without the meds after she threw them out, and Dr Madden also that although therapy and drugs work better in tandem, they&apos;ll start with the first and see how they progress. Which is showing already that he&apos;s more willing to listen to Di and respect her feelings in treatment.

  I&apos;ve seen it mentioned in the comments but the son is definitely played as an extension of Diana here- he laughs when she laughs (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSCiw3ifrwM&amp;t=230">3:50</a>), he follows down the stairs and across the &quot;hallway&quot; when Dr Madden suggests Diana imagine it (<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSCiw3ifrwM&amp;t=600">10:00</a>), and when she makes a joke he laughs and looks for his reaction. he&apos;s playing her inner thoughts here.<br><br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSCiw3ifrwM&amp;t=335">5:35</a> i always assumed Dr Madden was Diana&apos;s therapist because Dan found him so he could try and treat an unmedicated Diana.
