I hear you in the comments...Orcas. While they CAN kill and eat Leopard Seals, it is a very risky meal for the Orca and they would much rather go for something that wont fight back.

The thought of willingly entering the water with a leopard seal is incomprehensible to me.

You couldn't pay me enough to go diving in the icy cold Antarctic waters, and<br>Getting into that same water with a 600 kg apex predator seems completely insane.

Orcas are still the apex predator. They do avoid leopard seals because of how vicious they are. However if hungry enough, they will indeed team up and hunt leopard seals. Orcas are smart and they still rule the ocean.

They are like a 12' long 1500 lb ocean going rottweiler with a bite and power to kill a human easily.

That part about leopard seals singing underwater was unexpected. Antarctica is absolutely wild.

I worked at McMurdo in the late 80's, and there was a story about a researcher, some years earlier, who was walking out on the sea ice and a Leopard Seal tracked him or his shadow from under the ice, and punched up through the ice right next to him,...as they do to get penguins, ... and the leopard seal chomped into the guys calf muscle and ripped it off his leg and slipped back into the ice with his "edible tissue".
