Many video game kiosks had reset buttons that users could press to exit out of the game. This probably triggered that cable since the console was often behind glass and couldn't be interacted with.

That cable is connected to an external "reset" button. Those kiosks usually had demo discs inside with 6 or 7 demo games. The only way to switch between games was to reset the console. So yeah, it is a good idea to keep the cables connected as it will proof this is a real kiosk PS1.

Hey, Tech Tangents did a video showing 10 year results on Retrobrite. The long term effects are concerning, to say the least, the retrobrited Dreamcast he had ended up with streaks and it yellowed more and FASTER, and actually became much more <b>brittle</b> than plastic from the same console that did not get the treatment, so I personally would say don't retrobrite anything, it's not worth the problems that happen as a result.

I'm thinking the sticker was just to discouarge theft. People would be much less likely to try to steal things if they think it wouldn't work. And it wouldn't have been widely known that it would still work with nothing plugged into that connector unless someone had one, which didn't happen until the kiosks were removed and dismantled. Someone just playing the kiosk would've seen it randomly reset. But it turns out that extra wire is literally just an external reset button.

Hello call up steel City games in pueblo Colorado they have an og PlayStation kiosk I've asked before they said they would consider selling it great video like always!

I remember seeing a NES playing Ghosts n Ghouls in a Kiosk back in the 1990s in a shop in the UK called John Menzies. It also reset after a time but it's ike this one - the reset button was pressed or power briefly cut, not like the game itself reset your play. I'm sure the warning it to stop people trying to steal it.
