When Jim Crockett sold to Ted Turner in 1988, WCW were miles off and WWF were embarking on the whole Mega Powers angle with Hulk Hogan and Macho Man Randy Savage. And even with WWF declining by late 1991 and really declining in 1993, WCW under Jim Herd had no clue. They became much more serious when Ted Turner opened his cheque books to Eric Bischoff to sign the likes of Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage and then poach Kevin Nash and Scott Hall from WWF in 1996. That was when the whole &quot;war&quot; became personal. Not to mention the Bischoff tactic of telling the RAW results 10 minutes before RAW airing.
