When I first played it, I had a wife screen TV and surround sound and had my 6 year old son sitting right there in front of me when I came out of the cave after Helgen. That moment where Alduin passes over and roars is the first time he really understood how cool and immersive gaming could be. He screamed at first and then pointed into the sky and said, "Dad! A dragon!!!"

Skyrim is the only game where night doesn't feel terrifying but rather comforting

No game has been able to match the sense of absolute wonder that Skyrim gives, the game will probably look ancient in another 10 years, and I’ll probably still be playing it.

Skyrim is beautiful because no matter how much or how fast life changes, you can always come home to the same game you know and love. When I first played Skyrim, I was 11 years old. Now I am 22 with a degree and living in the adult world. Through life's ups and downs, Skyrim has always been there to keep me grounded and to help me return home. A true masterpiece, and a major part of many of our lives.

I was 20 when this came out, and now in 5 days I will be 35. Absolutely mind blowing how fast life goes, and I just know that ES 6 will not be the same in any way shape or form. No Jeremy Soule, Bethesda has changed and gone downhill, etc. I don't even own a gaming console anymore, and I don't think I will ever be into video games in my life ever again. I loved playing Morrowind with my brother, Oblivion was the reason I got a 360, etc. I am truly lucky to have experienced the greatest time in gaming.

13 years strong and I'm still playing Skyrim. While there have been times I was away,  I always came home. Who's still here in 2026?
