  Looks good ….maybe crushed Stone at the bottom of the holes to wick away water from the post

  I can’t even imagine drilling post holes in dirt like that. Our area is to full of rocks every post I sink is backfilled with 10% broken shear bolts.

  I soak the bottom part of each post in a 15-gallon drum with diesel fuel or used motor oil. This prevents termites from chewing up the post.

  Hell of a job; I need to build one these for my 2 tractors. The video was very helpful, & I plan on doing some of the same methods you used thanks.

  For anyone in the future heres a tip i discovered when digging your holes with an auger. The auger can spin off the desired location so its hard to get it to fit &nbsp;your desired layout.<br><br>After you do your 3 4 5 &nbsp; drive a big nail or rebar for the center of each hole, checking diagonals per usual.<br><br>Then take your shovel and dig a concave hole about 4 to 5 inches deep in the center. This will help hold the auger in place to start your hole. A lot more accurate so less hand work.

  I&apos;m a 68 yo woman, I have built a few small things, mostly cabinets, shelves things of that sort. I&apos;m tired of digging my truck out of the snow and am going to attempt this, by myself as I could never afford what people ask for around here. I have watched a ton of videos, this one is most like what I have in mind...wish me luck!!!!!!

  Before I use my tractor auger, I pre-auger my locations with a smaller tulip bulb auger on a cordless drill. These smaller augers are usually 4-inch diameter augers and are 2 feet long. This will help guide the tractor auger and be more precise in the correct location. It is the same principle when you try to drill a large hole in a piece of metal by using a small drill as a pilot drill to prevent the larger drill bit from wandering and end up drilling in the wrong spot.
