  I am a PA native and Penn State grad student but never heard of this lovely mansion. &nbsp;The family connections are very interesting. &nbsp;I often imagine whether I could visit a place like this back in time and feel at home and get along. &nbsp;In this case, yes, I think so. &nbsp;There were oil lamps and the care of clothing would be much more hands-on but a family like this would have had servants to wash, iron and repair the family&apos;s clothes. &nbsp;I love the animal figurines which add a homey touch to the place. &nbsp;The carved furniture is way over the top for our era but was the height of European fashion back then, I suppose there were catalogs that had these styles, or a Blair or friends of the family might have done their European trip and seen furnishings like this and talked about their beauty. &nbsp;The carvings of the cupids and grapes are so detailed. &nbsp;Have the cupids imbibed too much wine, which might represent relaxation that the family would want to engender with guests in these formal entertainment rooms? &nbsp;I would guess yes.

  Great stuff. I love history. I grew up in Altoona and I live right next-door to Baker Mansion. This entire area is filled with all kinds of cool stories.
