  I&apos;m going to Nice in a couple of weeks! With my 20 year old daugther! I really look forward to show her Nice and Menton. It&apos;s almost thirty years since I visited this part of France myself. She has never been there. We are going to the Tropée des Villes pétanque tournament to watch the finest french players play the most beautiful games ever!

  Ah, Nice! A true piece of paradise in France. In fact all of Provence is a marvel of towns &amp; villages, coastal beauty &amp; glorious mountains. And then there is the art. I remember eating Nicoise olives straight from a barrel that had been sitting in the sun. They were warm &amp; delicious, served in a paper cone in the Marche au centre Ville. And then the tiny little shop with the most beautiful marzipan creations I have ever seen. There was a day trip to Digne, a centuries old spa, on a narrow gauge railway through the Alps. And the museums of Nice--Le Muse de Chagall, Le Muse de Matisse, the ancient Roman amphitheater, La Cheminee des Arennes, the old Roman aqueduct. And of course the food. A Friday lunch of fish stew with aioli, a tarte aux poireaus (leeks) at a small patisserie. I love the entire of Provence--Menton, Grasse, Antibes. A panoply of history, cultures, antiquities, artisanal creations, art, food, amazing landscapes, beautiful hiking trails, a special kind of light found nowhere else on earth. I can&apos;t imagine the Garden of Eden being any better.
