You’ve inspired me to stop sitting on the toilet while watching someone else sharpen their tools and go sharpen mine 😅

Excellent suggestion about holding the tool up to the light and looking for no deviation in reflections!!!

I am sure it would be great if it was in focus. Sadly much of the explanation was made waving the bit around and the image was fuzzy.

Good video for a basic cutting tool. So so many different ways to skin this cat, but the basics are grinding the proper clearances for sure.

Now that you all are deeper into videos, could this be re shot with a bit more focus? Great info! My trade school is using this as a reference video and it is bit of a murky subject for me at least

Excuse me please - do you use a diamond grinding wheel for working on the HSS tool bit? I can clearly see an outer thin ring on the wheel suggesting just that. In which case - is it a good choice for HSS? I've heard that it is advised to use diamond wheels for nothing but carbide tipped tools because HSS (and any other kind of steel) will "gum up" the diamond wheel surface in no time.
