> be me
> 18, think I’m gonna be a software developer
> study code, do an internship
> realize I hate staring at bugs for 8 hours straight
> turns out I like writing more
> enroll in English Communication (big mistake)
> get stuck learning drama and theatre instead of writing
> drop out
> become content writer at SaaS company
> company dies lol
> now working ops support at an EV charger installer company
> basically admin + customer service
> kinda enjoy learning and explain to customer how the tech works and the electrical calculation though
> planning to study Business Admin with AI major
> finally realized I like being the bridge between tech and people
> feels like I’m actually figuring it out

True, like it's unrealistic for students to visualize what's perfect for them in the far future when they are evolving day to day. You meet new people, learn new things, and become tired of some stuff while becoming interested in other things. That's why life progress is really about taking a bunch of small steps and reflecting as you go to see what feels right for you XD

I'm afraid of getting a degree and eventually find interest in something else that isn't align with my degree. I'm 16. Imagining myself being stuck in a wormhole where I do the same thing again and again is what terrifies me which is why it's so hard to pick what my career is. Thank you for this. Idk why but it made me cry hahaha

My biggest issue is that I can't stick to anything and as I'm getting older it's getting worse. I can't even stick to an idea for longer than a week. And I'm usually a very decisive person

What im concerned about is investing so much money into schooling and getting that specific career and finding out if i dont like it or im not good at it. Then what?

a very knowledgeable teacher of mine once said, "Learn for the profession u love, ur good at and the world needs, and do a business or farm for money. don't be a doctor for money, u'll never be actually happy."

and the problem with medicine is that it's very easy to get stuck, as it traps you in a bubble that gives you the impression that you're skill-less outside of medicine. not to mention taking absolutely ages to get through both medical school and postgraduate/specialty training. the longer you're in it, the more trapped you feel.

I have changed careers majorly at least 5 times and I am in my early 40s. I went all in for each stage and then when the time came I put it aside and did the new thing suitable for my energy in that chapter of life. I have no regrets!
