In the 72 series he was the only player who did not play in a losing game

I was on a flight from Montreal to Toronto and Serge sat right beside me, i introduced myself to him and told him he was my idol watching him in the late 60s and earlier 70s. We shook hands and I have never to this day met anyone with hands that were that big.

Met and spoke to him once in the Canadiens' locker room after a game. He was tall and friendly.

With the salary cap no team will ever have a defence like the big 3

 The Savardian Spinnorama

There's something that made them so great up to and into the 70s.
Up until 1969 Montreal got the rights/first choice of any Quebec players they wanted to draft.

You should look it up, I wouldn't explain it properly.

So I imagine by the mid to late 70s, their stockpile of great prospects playing in the minors was pretty sparse.

But up till 1993 they'd won the cup at least every 7 years.

A career plus minus of +462 is crazy, but look at how good the Canadiens were back then.

In the, 1976–77 season they had a record of 60 wins, 8 losses, and 12 ties for a total of 132 points.
Which was unhearrd of then, and still is.

A great clip about Serge Savard true in every aspect. But not complete. What about his compassion, his love for all those around him and his support of those in specific needs. Like all heroes in sports he gave of his time and energy to those who needed it most. To those he is a superman.

I've been a fan for 60 years. Always marveled by Savard's consistency. Never got verification of an end to end race between Lafleur and Savard. Folklore?
