  Judging from the crowds, it must be a holiday, the recent Qingming Festival in China, a time for people to pay respects to their ancestors.

  Thanks for sharing your China trip with us. Shanghai looks like the future. Unbelievable. No wonder they say China is Japan on high dose of steroids. Japan literally look like a miniature Temu version of China.

  the pork soup buns are xiaolongbao (小笼包) so if ever you go back to shanghai to try them

  you probably came during a holiday or some foreign head of state was in town. they don't usually bring out the honor guard on normal days. couple days is enough for shanghai. it's just a big city so unless you like endless shopping and upscale dining, there really isn't that much to see imo. not sure where you said you were going next due to your funny accent lol, either suzhou or hangzhou I'm guessing. those are much more historic and interesting places to visit where you can spend a lot more time exploring.

  It was definitely public holiday. Shanghai isn't usually that hectic. Tips for traveling to China: Do not visit during Chinese public holidays.  especially the first week of May and  October. It’s the place where you could get stuck on the highway for three days during a public holiday…. just because crowded...

  Armed police officers standing guard along the roadside. Given the similar populations of China and India, it's easy to understand that if order isn't maintained effectively, the outcome could be the same disaster as in India.
