People often ask about the background music in the videos, so here you go, in order of appearance:

Alone in the Dark - Alone in the Dark
Sweet Home - Basement Theme
    " - Mamiya & Ichirou's Theme
    " - Top Floor
    " - West Island Theme
    " - Battle Theme
    " - Mamiya's Room
    " - Lobby Theme
    " - Ending Theme
    " - Final Battle

For the record, what sets your videos apart for me is the dives into background information, interviews, side content, games that came before (and after,) and whatever else I'm forgetting. I hope you can keep doing this forever, man.

more than anything, the way you write and structure your points and arguments makes for such a good flow to videos. you lead us in with a great intro and then intersperse talking about the story of the game with other aspects. it makes for really riveting viewing.

There was actually a new fan translation released a few years back that fixes a lot of mistakes in the initial fan translation, and restores references to the movie that were overlooked in the initial translation, or were removed for space constraints.

After hearing Sweet Home practically being mentioned in any video that talks about a survival horror game it’s so nice to have a video covering it! Thank you as always for your work :) it’s also very cool to see how its mechanics have been adopted by indie rpg horror games that make use of the software they have to convey scary plots creatively :D

Very small detail: The "Tool" is actually a mistranslation. The translator saw the word "doguu" どぐう and confused it with "dougu" どうぐ (swapped the second and third syllables). It's a reasonable mistake since the first is a very rare word and the second is extremely common.

A doguu (土偶) is a traditional japanese clay figure. If you google it you'll realize you've probably seen one before.

16:24 You think the Man !!! had influence on the zombie turning towards camera scene in the first moments of Resident Evil ?

It's been ages since I've seen the movie but I think the reason why Kazuo has a lighter is because it was mentioned he recently gave up smoking and was keeping the lighter as a keep sake? I could be misrembering though.

Glad that "that game mentioned in passing in every video about old Japanese horror games" finally got some spotlight. I absolutely adore horror games from 3rd-5th gen consoles, they have that unique vibe to them where they couldn't really make the horror elements work with limited graphics, so they focused on making them just ooze with atmosphere and charm.

A couple of tactical notes for anyone who is interested in going through this game.

1. Leveling up increases Max HP, but it does not heal you. Moreover, leveling up does not increase defense. This amount of damage an enemy does will always be constant. Saving a couple of Tonics to use after gaining a few levels in the early game is vital.

2. There are a few rooms in the mansions where there’s no random encounters or traps. Some rooms with one-time traps are also safe to stay due to having no random encounters.

Good luck and take plenty of notes!

Kiyoshi Kurosawa is one of the greatest horror filmmakers ever and Sweet Home is a great schlocky watch, but it’s also so different in tone from the rest of his horror movies. The fact that he indirectly caused Resident Evil to be created is such a funny piece of trivia.

I got hospitalized due to a stroke last month. As crappy as the two weeks I spent there were, I have to say that discovering your channel while randomly scrolling on my hospital bed was the definitive highlight of those weeks.

Your stuff is informative and really well-written, well worth the binge to be sure. You got a nice voice too so sometimes I'd end up falling asleep to a video of yours. Thanks for the upload! My recommendations have been made up of mostly deep-dives like yours and I'm all the more grateful for it.
