Along the way, we'll visit the Palacio del Marqués de la Motilla, stop at the cozy Plaza de San Andrés, explore the historic Santa Catalina neighborhood, and make our way through the streets of central Sevilla. At first glance, you might think you've stumbled upon a medieval Italian castle. But here's the surprise: this "medieval" palace was actually built in the 20th century. Its historicist design was inspired by medieval Florence, particularly the Palazzo Vecchio, creating an unexpected little piece of Florence in the heart of Sevilla. 🍊 Plaza de San Andrés One of the highlights of this walk is Plaza de San Andrés, one of those cozy corners of Sevilla that many visitors never discover. Tucked away from the busiest tourist routes, this beautiful plaza is one of my favorite places to enjoy breakfast alfresco beneath the orange trees, beside the historic church that seems to transport me to another time. In the morning, you'll find Sevillanos having breakfast before work, enjoying a quiet moment before the day begins. And that's exactly what I love about it. Later in the evening, the atmosphere changes as people gather for tapas and conversation. For me, the best way to experience Sevilla isn't always to follow the crowds. It's to slow down, find the hidden corners, sit beneath the orange trees, and live like a local. 💒 Santa Catalina Our walk then takes us into the historic neighborhood of Santa Catalina and to the beautiful Iglesia de Santa Catalina, a remarkable example of Sevilla's Gothic-Mudéjar architecture. Standing here, you're surrounded by centuries of history—Christian, Islamic and Roman influences woven together in one corner of the city. 🧇 Las Setas — Sevilla's Giant Waffle Cone? Finally, we arrive at one of Sevilla's most recognizable—and unusual—landmarks: Las Setas de Sevilla, or “The Mushrooms.” I have to admit… when I look at it, I don't see mushrooms. I see a giant waffle cone! 😂 Whatever you see, there is no denying that Las Setas is unforgettable. Originally called Metropol Parasol, this enormous wooden structure was designed by German architect Jürgen Mayer H. and opened in 2011. The design consists of six enormous parasols, creating one of the most distinctive sights in modern Sevilla. Beneath Las Setas, you'll find the Mercado de la Encarnación, restaurants and public spaces. Below the plaza is the Antiquarium, where archaeological remains from the Roman and Moorish periods were discovered. What I love about Las Setas is the contrast: ancient Sevilla below and modern Sevilla above. ❤️ WHY WALK SEVILLE? Sevilla is a city best experienced on foot.
