  At <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZfvOIR7qWM&amp;t=627">10:27</a>, if you leave out the beef and bacon, there is no use in cooking this recipe. It&apos;s the mixture of ALL of the ingredients that make this a great tasting dish.

  I&apos;ve made my own recipe for baked beans for some Hindu friends of mine, and they were confused about the sugar too. They absolutely loved them.

  I recommend just trying &quot;Bush&apos;s Original&quot; baked beans, by themselves. &nbsp;What he&apos;s done is used the original beans to make &quot;brown sugar hickory&quot; baked beans, which Bush&apos;s also has in a can. &nbsp;Put ground beef and some onion in it and you have nearly the same thing.

  While baked beans are made and eaten all over America my 2 favorite styles of beans are eaten primarily in the American Southwest and they come from Mexico. <br><br>Borracho Beans and Charro Beans are 2 awesome styles of beans that you might want to check out. <br><br>All beans are delicious!!

  It does sound like a lot of sugar but you really should try this recipe the way it was meant to be. &nbsp;Its not a dessert. &nbsp; Its a smokey sweet. &nbsp;Imagine cooking beans in bbq sauce.

  Since Y&apos;all are vegetarians ( My guess) this might work as a substitute for meat products - 1 tablespoon [ 15 mL] of soy sauce, 3/4 teaspoon [ 3.75 mL] of msg or 1 1/2 teaspoon [7.5 mL] powder if msg is not preferred, 1 1/2 teaspoon [7.5 mL] of smoked paprika, &nbsp;a drop - 1 1/2 drops of liquid smoke and 1/2 [ 250 mL] cup of water. The remainder of the recipe seem fine for your cooking resources; saved the brown sugar ( ours U.S. has a kind of wet sand texture not your dry variety ). Also the habanero BBQ sauce is the kick flavor that the U.S. prefers. and lastly if y&apos;all are intending to try this dish, i would suggest making U.S. Southern style corn bread { Southern style is the Key here - they created it.} My best guess to attempt this is to use &quot; Polenta&quot;, this is the closet to U.S. corn meal.
