Evening News Hot Topic - Severe summer storms batter Thailand, bringing unprecedentedly heavy rain and torrential downpours. We focus on Phichit province, where strong winds and rain caused widespread damage. Be cautious and seek shelter; avoid open areas. The storm's intensity was particularly severe in Wang Sai Phun and Mueang Phichit districts, causing significant damage to homes and government buildings. The wind swept through for nearly half an hour, blowing away corrugated iron roofs, toppling advertising signs, and causing widespread power outages across several sub-districts, including Wang Sai Phun Hospital. Initial surveys indicate damage to 68 houses in Wang Sai Phun district and 19 in Mueang Phichit district, totaling nearly 100 homes. Some residents reported extremely strong winds and hailstones, demolishing roofs and walls. At this location, residents captured footage of the unprecedentedly powerful storm, showing the wind whipping up everything in its path. In Wiang Sa District, Nan Province, a severe storm with heavy rain and strong winds caused extensive damage to over 150 houses. Many houses had their roofs and walls blown away entirely. The storm's force also sent a wooden pavilion at a school flying over 50 meters, toppled more than 10 power poles, uprooted large trees, and resulted in a complete power outage throughout the night. This left residents in darkness and without communication. Residents described it as the most severe storm in over 100 years. Government agencies are urgently assessing the damage, providing assistance, repairing homes, and establishing temporary shelters. Meanwhile, in Phrae Province, a severe summer storm with heavy rain, strong winds, and hail struck, causing power outages in several sub-districts. Three large trees fell across the road in front of the Phrae Provincial Bus Terminal, blocking traffic in Nam Cham Sub-district. Authorities are working to clear the road, and traffic has now returned to normal. Further down in central Thailand, in Bang Bal District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, a thunderstorm with strong winds caused significant damage to houses, with roofs being severely blown off. A more than 100-year-old traditional Thai house was struck by lightning, shattering its roof tiles and causing a complete power outage. In another area of Kob Chao Subdistrict, a storm tore off over 30 roof tiles, damaging belongings inside with rainwater. Residents said the events happened very quickly, with such strong winds that they were caught off guard and had to evacuate. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. In Si Racha District, Chonburi Province, a strong wind and rain storm caused a 60-year-old tamarind tree to fall on a monk's dwelling at Wat Khao Phuttha Kodom. The strong winds toppled the large tree, damaging the roof and cracking the walls of the dwelling. A monk inside sustained a head injury and was immediately taken to the hospital. It is believed that the strong winds were caused by a severe summer storm, overwhelming the large tree. Authorities warned the public to avoid being near tall trees. Or structures that are not strong enough during storms. #Channel7News #EveningNewsHotTopics #Storm #SummerStorm #Phichit Follow Channel 7HD News on: Application: https://go.ch7.com/app Website: https://www.ch7.com YouTube: @ch7hdnews Facebook: Facebook: Ch7HDNews Instagram: Instagram: ch7hd X: https://x.com/ch7hd TikTok: TikTok: ch7hd_news
