  Funny thing about the city… you can lose yourself in its shadows so easily, you almost forget you were ever whole. But maybe, just maybe, one rainy night you’ll turn a corner and find what’s left of you staring back. There she is... and for a moment you remember.

  &quot;This town isn&apos;t easy. Never has been. It has its ups and downs, mostly downs. A car racing by, guys on the streets hustling their boss&apos;s itinerary, police lights flashing their colors as another girl is found in a dumpster. And me? Just a lone girl in this crazy world owned by men. Jazz singing pays the bills, but I&apos;m tired of always looking over my shoulder. When am I going to be next. Who&apos;s gonna walk by as I lay there waiting to be found by a drunk or an unappreciated house wive nursing a black eye. Sometimes wish I was born a guy. Maybe things would be a little easier. Who knows. But until then I keep singing, keep hoping that today isn&apos;t my last day of singing. Maybe there&apos;s someone up there looking out for me. Or maybe my number hasn&apos;t been pulled yet. Lady luck be on my side. I&apos;m gonna need it.&quot;
