  In my opinion one of the main things that distinguishes them is the relationship between contestants. Game Changer doesn’t work without collaboration between contestants, but Taskmaster thrives on the initial isolation between contestants. The best way to describe it I think is that Game Changer feels like watching a group presentation the group didn’t prepare for, and Taskmaster feels like watching an exam no one studied for.

  My favorite &quot;they&apos;re similar even in their differences&quot; part of these two shows is this: <br>In Game Changers, the contestants are told NOTHING about what they&apos;re doing, and they have no idea what&apos;s goin on. <br>In Task Master, the contestants are told EXACTLY what they need to achieve, and they have no idea what&apos;s going on.

  it’s also interesting to note that i believe alex created taskmaster, but recognised that he doesnt have the demeanour to be the taskmaster. therefore, he actively participates, coordinates the show and debases himself for comedy value, under the hand of the more imposing greg. there’s so much that can be said about the show on why it’s unique, but that stands out to me because the game’s creater puts his ego to the side for entertainment value. very admirable in my book<br><br>also having the thumbnail be taskmaster vs game changer but the title be game changer v taskmaster was very displeasing

  not using the clip of rhod gilbert taking a photo of greg while he’s sleeping in his own home to show how insane the prize tasks get was honestly a surprise

  Something else about Taskmaster I don’t see a lot of people talking about is how absolutely incredible the soundtrack is.

  It&apos;s not that British comedy is influenced by Python, it&apos;s that Python is a famous expression of that side of British comedy. The Pythons&apos; path was started off by people already doing what they did.

  I think another interesting thing about Rosie being on the show is that she <b>does</b> speak slowly, but they just accommodated that in the edit itself. They just gave her the time she needed to make her jokes, and at no point did I feel like they were rushing her segments or giving her less screen time than the other contestants. From the standpoint of the structure and narrative of the show, she was exactly what she was, another contestant with her own style and humor that needed to be featured. <br><br>Stuff like that is less obvious, but I am just so used to disability being either hyper fixated on or hidden. So the fact that they just carved out space in the edit so she could talk, but did so in a way that did not revel in the fact that they were doing it like many shows, was refreshing.<br><br>Also, they did a great job letting Fern Brady be Fern Brady on the season she was on too. Her line &quot;Look, it has been pointed out to me that I think in an unusual way before... but to me, the obvious thing was to let the bird fly&quot; has become an iconic quote for me. It perfectly encapsulates the way I feel sometimes when trying to explain how I think to non-autistic people.

  It should be noted that Little Alex Horne is the real taskmaster. He is the main writer, he conceptualized the show, and he did it solo the fist time around. <br>This is not important to note because Little Alex Horne is an unsung mastermind of the show. It&apos;s because he&apos;s notorious for not wanting the credit, and it is very fun to watch Little Alex Horne be embarrassed about it.

  As a Brit, big cash prizes on Gameshows as a concept doesn&apos;t just come across as tacky or impolite, it almost feels... Cruel? Mean-spirited?<br><br>Like, Countdown is one of the longest running British actual Gameshows (where the primary draw is the game being played, and it&apos;s played by contestants rather than comedians.) Your prize for prevailing in an episode is... &nbsp;A teapot. Something you can put on the mantlepiece and brag about at dinner parties.<br><br>Which also means that if you lose, well, honestly you can still brag about being on the telly at all. To be frank, that also means that the applicants are, broadly, the board and middle aged- people who, as a rule, aren&apos;t scrabbling for survival. They want to win, sure, but they don&apos;t <b>need</b> to win.<br><br>Stick a big cash prize there, and now you get people who <b>need</b> that money. Get at least two of those on the same show and suddenly, whoever wins, you get to (or perhaps, have to) watch someone&apos;s dreams of... Getting a proper wheelchair for a relative, paying off their debts, finally buying a house *die before your eyes*.<br><br>Is that... Meant to be fun? I&apos;d just make me feel bad.

  also in case anyone doesn&apos;t know, for Taskmaster Alex Horne is also the one who develops the tasks (alongside some writers), he created the show. Greg is there to be the &quot;face&quot; and perform as the &quot;taskmaster&quot; that judges and dishes out the points but Horne is the man behind the man, his persona and where he thrives more is where he seems in the show as something that people might read as &quot;sidekick&quot;. when he&apos;s there to monitor and record how they do at each task he&apos;s not there as someone they&apos;re trying to impress, he&apos;s in a way more on their level as it were. they&apos;ll banter with him or use him as a soundboard to think through ideas, in some cases may even include him to do something as part of fulfilling whatever task has been set
