I'm so glad you spent time on this.

"There were so many adults in the room." This is really the bit that gets me every time.

Honestly, if this doesn't go viral we all know why. Which is just icing on the cake of horrors.

And let's not forget Judy Garland. Her abuse story has been pretty well documented.

It is only 44 years ago that a rapist could marry his victim in Italy to restore her honour. This horror for young females was a daily cost. Hollywood is not new. And yes, it needs to stop.

A Dutch youtuber once did a deep dive into a Dutch vlogging family and he was all like: "Is nobody noticing that the video's where the children are in the pool or the bath are the most watched? Why is nobody upset about this! We all know who are watching this."
And this video reminded me of that... why was nobody upset at young girls being forced to go naked in film or photo's? It is gross and upsetting.

Don’t forget about Shirley Temple-Black, she was sexualized by Hollywood when she was a lot younger than Brooke Shields. It disgusts me that parents are willing to sell out their kids for fame and fortune.

Remember when Cory Feldman mentioned how many child predators there were in Hollywood and Barbra Walters shut him down so fast! It was very disturbing to watch.

Our culture definitely has a trend of fetishizing “innocence” (read: lack of control and agency) and then demonizing the victim when the inevitable fallout ensues

Personally, as a disabled person, I’m terrified of the concept of conservatorship. The idea that all my legal rights could be taken away without my consent (or even knowledge) is horrific. I’m glad Brittney was able to escape and set legal precedent, but it’s still at its core a disturbing and abusive system.

I cannot emphasize enough how much teenagers are still children. I work with grades 6-12. Yesterday my 14-18 year olds were playing on a playground. Like swinging, tag, chasing each other the whole bit. They’re starting to be able to have more complex relationships with each other but I can tell you watching teenage romances as an adult is fundamentally different than going through them as a teenager. They read as an adult as very very child like, very very chaotic, very intense and vulnerable. I worry that most adults only have the context of seeing teenagers in social or romantic situations when they’re looking back at their own childhoods or in film and television where they’re often portrayed as emotionally much more mature than they actually are. That leads to not really understanding how young teenagers actually are and downplaying sexual violence against them.

    Here’s another one: WIL WHEATON.

The TNG cast were wonderful to him, but they had no idea what was going on at home.
His mother basically managed him, and forced him to keep working as an actor, even when he said he wanted to stop.
He was supporting his family, somewhat unknowingly.
His parents spent every dime he made.
He and his sister were abused on a C-rated movie set.

What is he most remembered for?
“Shut up, Wesley!” — said to his TNG character, by the captain and his mother, *while they were being influenced by an outside source*. His character was the teenaged genius, who sometimes screwed up, but also sometimes had more sense than the adult crew. Somehow this turned into his character being hated by people who were annoyed, and sometimes, hating on the actor himself.

He now talks pretty freely about his parental physical and emotional abuse. He’s made a little corner of writing and geekery for himself. He’s even agreed to do some Star Trek stuff in the last few years, as an adult. But it was a long road for him to get there.
