  I always enjoy your videos.  I bet YouTube also penalized you for the train hopping ones.  Shame be cause those are really good.   I’ve said before, but I think you are on par with National Geographic on content.  And a very important resource for cheap adventure travel.

  The tower settlements were very interesting.  In Scotland we have these old tower settlements called brochs that probably functioned the same way.  In mountainous areas people naturally form small extended family settlements, each with very limited useable land.  These groups often fought among themselves, which made lookout towers and fortifications very useful.  Obviously in the mountains you have no shortage of stone, but not a lot of flat ground, so towers are a natural choice.  I never thought that this might be something that was common in other places.  I expect I'll find there were mountain towers in many parts of the world.
