  ATTENTION HOMEOWNERS <br>This man Is giving you free golden knowledge, please listen.<br><br>Im &nbsp;an hvac/r technician in Northern California and &nbsp;often hear from friends and family about big companies attempting &nbsp;to falsely sell them a new unit.<br><br>I just spared a guy about 20 grand because a company told him they need to do a new install And upsize the return duct.<br><br>I simply had to replace the run capacitor, a relay and perform an airflow test using my monometer to confirm, &nbsp;He did not need to upsize his return duct!<br>And his unit is up and running. It feels good to help people.<br>But there are in fact sharks out there who are only looking out for commission sadly <br><br>I want to be more like you Tad, you are of the best in the business!

  The point about sizing and duct work is so underrated. People obsess over brand or SEER rating and then wonder why the new system short cycles or can&apos;t hold humidity. A proper load calc and duct measurement takes maybe an hour and it changes everything about whether that replacement actually performs. If you&apos;re getting quotes, ask every contractor upfront if they&apos;re doing a Manual J and measuring the duct. If they just look at the old unit&apos;s tonnage and copy it, that&apos;s a flag. The repair-vs-replace math also tracks, spending close to half the cost of new equipment on a repair with limited warranty rarely makes sense. For a second opinion on sizing or a full system quote, american residential services is one option to compare, but still ask them to show you the load calc and get the scope in writing before approving anything.

  Tad, <br>you knocked this video out of the park. Excellent communication skills and a wealth of knowledge. <br>Both of my split units hit the 27 year mark this month. You always take/return my calls, and for the last 12 years, whenever I have had an issue you are always there to help me stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Keeps my wife happy too. <br>For me, repairing/replacing minor $ components a nickel and dime at a time makes sense because it doesn’t break the bank, but also you have taught me how simple and easy it is to properly maintain and fix things myself. Thank you for always being there in a time of need. One of these days when the time comes I know you will tell me it’s time to replace, and I will. You are a rare breed and a good man.

  thanks for a great class in hvac ! &nbsp;i am at that point with a 4 &nbsp;ton heat pump struggling in these above 105 and up heat warnings in florida , its 20 years old rheem 10 seer ,,,,i make it this far 2400 sq ft home when in class years ago with r 22 we did not calculate all of what we &nbsp;should have back then ,,,being dissabled for years now &nbsp;, too many back surgeries failures its about the money on a very fixed income i am actually thinking a GOODMAN ,,,,back in hvac class we laughed at that brand but now days with all cost rising out of our reach ! i may have to eat my words LOL ,,,,thanks you taddy your always helping someone ! &nbsp;god bless .

  This is the first time I (respectfully) disagree with Tad. My background is I was a green install helper, then lead installer for only one summer before I begged to go into service, was a service tech for 12 years, then a senior tech before opening my own company 6 years ago, 17 tears in total.<br><br>The only time I sell an AC and coil only is if the furnace is newer, or if it’s closer to 10 years or younger and it’s been maintained properly. <br><br>If you’re trying to save a little money by doing the AC and coil only, know that you’re essentially paying double the labor to replace that old furnace again in the near future. Because regardless if were installing an AC only or a full new system, a crew is still working a full day (even if you’re doing AC and coil only you still have to work on the old the furnace) so think of it this way, paying the labor rate 2 times and going through the headache of it breaking, someone coming out, sitting through someone’s sales pitch, scheduling another install date or saving a few thousand by knocking it all at the same time.

  I’m sure that my situation is not unique, but I HAVE to repair my attic unit because the access is no more than 24” square and the unit was installed during construction .
