Julia taught me how to make a souffle when I was 15 years old. My mother's kitchen was a wreck. I'm almost 80 now. And I'm still a student. Does anyone ever master cooking?

She nailed it, as you always knew she would. A home cook like myself never stops learning. Because when we see a recipe, both now and in the past, we ask ourselves whether this recipe will taste as I imagined? Will it be better or worse? An Old recipe, lets say from Fernand Garvin in a late 50's paperback, can also be new.<br><br>Julia passed in 2004, just when food culture and recipes from all over the world exploded. But the past informs the future. From a young man in my 20's copying food video show recipes. To today, doing the same on the internet. And still learning new recipes from her and Jacques 40 years later in my 60's.<br><br>I will continue to find new recipes from the past and the future. It's curiosity, exploration, and the satisfaction of the result. For me, it will never die. And because of their videos, these legends will also never die. You don't have to get paid, or pay a lot to eat well. Or even cook for others than yourself. That's the satisfaction of it. And it will never end. 🙂

I think of Julia almost every time I do something in the kitchen and she was right... one can have done something a hundred times and suddenly you fail. I specially remember one day when I simply could not do a Hollandaise. How much butter was wasted that day!
