I've worked with concrete a lot. Here are some tips: 1. Add fiberglass and polymer additives to the concrete (for flexural strength) because you don't have any reinforcement. 2. Use hard wax-based release agents (for de-molding). 3. Use soft diamond cups for grinding and finishing the surface (on an angle grinder). 4. The concrete form should have chamfers everywhere (concrete doesn't like sharp edges).

After watching so many Chris Borge videos it's so cool to see somebody else making a lathe out of concrete. That is a very nice design, I like how big you made it!

You can vibrate the moulds externally to remove bubbles . It's easier than using a submersible vibrator on a small casting

Since fastening bolts directly into plastic does not provide sufficient stability, you need to embed long, ribbed steel nuts into the concrete; this ensures the components are securely attached to the machine body (the concrete base), which is crucial when the machinery operates at high speeds.

Bearings right in the concrete is wild. I guess it’s not stupid if it works.

Great video. I really like how you used concrete as a rough cast and followed through with shims. This kind of thinking is an important skill to have when approaching unorthodox projects because it allows you to finish them, so thanks for sharing your approach.

Glad to see the progress!<br>Lathes are really expensive around here so i&apos;m excited to try a concrete one when the project is finished!
