  Grown-ass adults who can&apos;t use their words is an rage-baiting trope. &nbsp;The FL should&apos;ve immediately told her ex that they were over and she was marrying someone else before booting both him and his wife out of her home. And the moment she was slapped and knocked down onto the shards, she should&apos;ve called the police and had her ex arrested for assault.<br><br>Instead, though, she&apos;s passively allowing the antagonists to bully her and lay hands on things they shouldn&apos;t. &nbsp;Stupid.<br><br>Edit: &nbsp;Assuming that the emerald jewelry set was made of emeralds (duh) and gold, it dropping to the floor would not have shattered it--unless the emeralds were fake and made of glass. &nbsp;Also, again, the FL should&apos;ve gone ahead and called the police. &nbsp;Seriously stupid.<br><br>Edit: &nbsp;Okay, it seems that the jewelry was jade--at least it was stated it was later in the story. &nbsp;It also seems that the reason why the FL didn&apos;t call the police was to give the ML the chance to swoop in and save her--and exact vengence.<br><br>Which is also stupid.
