I got an electrician to run a conduit, install a power point and ethernet point as I wanted my NTD in the garage. Works a treat and no mess. NBN contractor was happy to see someone organised 😂😂

It's good that you had a decent experience with an NBN installer. The vast majority of them barely pass the minimum requirements set out by the NBN (because they need the labour) and are not equipped to do the job all that well. My house was a new build at the time of installation with brand new conduits and draw strings installed for their convenience, and they still fumbled the job. 30 minutes of very poor workmanship and 3.5 hours spent standing around staring at their phones and the connection remained offline for an additional 2 weeks after installation, citing a firmware upgrade required for the NTD.

When my Mum had her house connected, they wilfully ignored her reasonable (and achievable, according to NBN documentation) installation requests knowing that our older citizens are easier to take advantage of, leaving behind one of the worst installations I have seen, with the NTD in an unusable part of the house. On top of this, the installer didn't comply with the requirement to install the NTD within the 3m of a power point and told my mum just to run an extension lead across the floor to it.

With capable hardware the service itself is otherwise excellent with the exception of the NBN requiring more planned outages, even if it is just at 3 am once a month...

I finally had my FTTP connection installed this morning after years of waiting! I've gone from 72Mbps to a whopping 938Mbps. Safe to say, I’m a very happy camper!

My installer went above and beyond on a tough install. The outdoor wall box is at one corner of the house. The NTD location is at the opposite corner about 20 metres away. Cable length that's about 27 metres away. He put the cable straight up from the outdoor box into the roof. He removed some roof tiles and pushed the cable through the roof cavity and at the NTD end he planned on using the old copper to pull down to the bottom of the wall. But the hole was too small in the joists to get the connector through. He called another installer friend to come and help. They cut the end off so the cable would fit through and pulled it the other way then put a new connector on the cable. He did say that without conduit for the cable in the roof it might get damaged and need to be replaced. I'll deal with that if it happens.

As a former tach, my splice noise limit was 0.03db or less, my motto was 'your work is your signature' . My source of pride came from never going back for a install I completed, my hats off to your tech for doing a top notch install.

Just completed my FTTP upgrade. As I wanted the NTD installed in the top of a cupboard in the middle of the house, I bought some 20 mm communications conduit from Bunnings and ran it up the outside wall, then into my roof, then across to the cupboard, then down into the top of cupboard. I had a pull line in it ready to go. The tech was pleased to see that I had made his job easy. I ended up with almost exactly the install I was hoping for.

At my house they used the existing phone line tube, which being a 70's house, it was actually metal. They had to dig up pavers to get to it and flush it out with a hose of course. They ran the fibre through the roof and they did have to take up tiles as our crawlspace sucks.

I believe they just used a ladder to get to the roof instead of going on it. All up I got it exactly where I wanted it. All up the 2 blokes were here for 5 hours, were very understanding and did a fantastic job 😊

Put through a request for FTTP on Wednesday, they had techs come out and install on that Friday. I initially thought they were just coming out to inspect to see if it can be done but I was wrong.

They were able to install it exactly where I wanted, which they went into the roof to run cables. It was insanely quick
