I made this accompanying video https://www.patreon.com/posts/episode-236-how-115684831 on my podcast where I dive deeper into my thought process and how I used LINDDUN as a benchmark of privacy resilience. It's available for everyone who supports my work! What do you think about this analysis?

These comments are brutal. You said exactly what you were going to review and it what manner. You did a good job at what you set out to do. Thank for the brief, but informative run down.

Instead of looking for the most private phone, we should instead be looking for a private phone with the best experience.

My set up is Pixel 6a, Graphene OS. No Google. Proton VPN. Signal app. Minimal usage and on airplane mode 95% of the time. Use the phone for absolutely nothing other than calls and messages. Banking, etc, I have to do electronically obviously. Use my 14 year old Lenovo Thinkpad with Linux for that. It's not perfect and I'm still learning but the main thing is I interact with the internet as little as possible. About to can YouTube and switch to GrayJay as don't have to sign in anywhere and no ads.

What I often don't see or hear discussed about these sort of measures being taken is that from a "fingerprinting" perspective they actually make you stick out like a sore thumb instead of blending in with the masses. This aspect is something that should absolutely be taken into consideration.

The best option is to live in a cabin in the woods, no tech around you, and spend the rest of life enjoying fishing trips

Edit: Gonna take advantage of this notoriety quick to let everyone know to please sign the Stop Killing Games petition if they live in Europe, it ends on July 31st 2025 so please be sure to sign it asap, thank you!

(also if anyone's seriously wondering about the context of the joke I joke I typed: the joke is just a reference to a Luke Smith video called "If you really care about Privacy, don't use the Internet", wasn't trying to ragebait Hated One)

Thanks for this awesome video. There's such a small number of youtubers who focus on privacy, most tech youtubers sing about the best camera or processor in the latest spyphone from apple or samsung.

Please continue making such videos.

You even could've had CalyxOS in this test, so we had gotten an idea of how it stands against GrapheneOS and the IPhone.

As a graphineOS user for 12 months - this is reassuring. It was very easy to set up and use, especially extra users. The worst part of converting to this OS was giving Google $700 to buy a pixel 7 lol. I was hoping you would separate Samsung (previous phones) as Im sure they would be the most invasive OS.

Can you please do a video like this specifically comparing Graphene OS to the other privacy-focused ROMs like Calyx OS and IODE OS? I know you talked about other AOSPs in general, but seeing how those in particular stack up to Graphene would be extremely helpful.

Thanks! I’ve been considering other phones and wasn’t aware of how to baseline them against each other. This was very helpful 👍
