I had an AP teacher once state to me, that she worried that the work of the classes she taught was a mile wide, but only an inch deep. She tried to compensate for this. Your comments on Lincoln's self- education made me think of her comments. I know this is an old video, but I thank you for your work, Ms. Kearns Goodwin... such wonderful depth.

I read Team of Rivals, years ago and loved it. This interview was wonderful. I can't imagine anyone but Daniel Day Lewis playing Lincoln in Spielsburg's movie. He was sublime.

I just finished watching the FDR Docudrama. Sanitizing FDR's Presidency is a significant flaw. Leaving out the attempted assassination is strange. Portraying Harry Hopkins as a handsome, robust, and healthy man invalidated this great man's contributions. Hopkins was terribly ill for many years and still was very effective. A British doctor said Hopkins was staying alive because of sheer willpower. The actor portraying FDR needed more makeup at the end. Did he resist being made to look like a dying man?

I just watched the George Washington series on Netflix and wondering why the hell they had Bill Clinton talking so much about him, as if he's some kind of authority on him. Why not have George W Bush talk about him? Or Trump? Then I found out she's a Trump-hating liberal with a bad case of TDS.
