  The first time I went there was in the mid-late 60&apos;s. At that time most of the buildings were open for people to walk through. It was somewhat hazardous as the floors were falling apart and the structures were crumbling. But, the fascinating part was all the old furniture, bed frames, stoves, and misc. items that were still in the homes. There were old medicine bottles and such in various colored glass strewn about and old rusty nails just laying in the dirt. There was one park ranger who lived out there, but no amenities (maybe a portable potty or 2). I believe that&apos;s where I fell in love with history. I went back 20+ years later, but everything was roped off and not much left to discover. If you close your eyes and concentrate, you can feel the energy of those who lived there. &nbsp;It is definitely worth the trip!

  I visited Bodie in the late fifties. &nbsp;We arrived just before sunset; the wind blew mournfully through the town with the only sound being the banging of a tin roof. The atmosphere was palpable and we felt the veil separating us from the past was thin. &nbsp;We we returned some years later, it was a park and the feelings we had on our first visit were gone. So glad to have seen Bodie in its pristine condition.

  My brother is named Bodie after the town. My grandfather started the Bodie historical society. His father owned one of the silver mines. Later he moved to Markleville Ca &amp; then eventually Bishop Ca.

  I grew up in Bishop, CA which is about 90 miles south of Bodie. Schools often would field trip there as part of our mining history sections (back in the 90s). Having visited Bodie several times I can honestly say that the town holds all of its memories still to this day. It feels as if you were to look at the precise right angle, &nbsp;you&apos;ll peer through a rip in the fabric of space and time and see a mining town booming in all its glory. &nbsp;It&apos;s incredibly strange and, despite being empty, entirely lived in. Anyone who has grown up nearby or has ever called the Eastern Sierra home knows to NEVER take anything from Bodie. It will follow you wherever you go. &nbsp;Thank you for a great video!

  Since visiting Bodie, I&apos;ve always wondered why the people left all of their belongings. I named my dog Bodie after the town!

  A two year old burnt the entire town to the ground? Even the babies in Bodie were little outlaws. Stumbling around drunk on breast milk wearing nothing but a cloth diaper with holsters on the side full of matches and little baby cowboy boots, spitting gobs of goo from a long piece of black licorice that&apos;s hanging out of it&apos;s mouth with a bad attitude like it hasn&apos;t had a nap in a fortnight.

  Bodie is an awesome place to visit. My wife and I went there as part of our honeymoon and we plan to go back when our daughter is a little older. Also, during October they do nighttime tours with scary stories by the fire. I haven&apos;t done one yet, but I hope to some day.
