Orcas are so outrageously OP on planet earth we had to shove them into a fictional biome to test their mettle.

It'd be so rad if there were aliens out there like "can humans survive the gleepglorp expanse," and were making little videos about ohr hypothetical chances of surviving their worlds

Fun fact: we do not know the top speed of an orca, as we have not observed a situation where it would be necessary for them to reach it.

I feel like Subnautica maps need to be considered 10x - 100x bigger for the amount of faunal diversity they present to be feasible, sector 0 is just WAY too small

Tbh I think something commenters don't realize is how intelligent orcas are. Although orcas didn't evolve to live alongside these creatures, this is the same animal that does not kill humans in the wild purposefully and has some form of language/communication (they have dialects even). Orcas beach themselves to eat things on land and this is a behavior taught by older orcas to younger orcas with a chaperone. They engage in play and have culture, it's all really cool

The question of orcas surviving in a strange place is a bit like asking if humans could, it's the question of how much intelligence will make up for anything that the species lacks physically compared to its competitors for the niche

One thing I can’t stand is just how small everything in subnautica feels. Sure, it feels kind of big when you see a chelicerate in the game, but when you see the size comparison illustration you’re like “DAMN I didn’t think it was that big”

2:17 “fish as large as whale sharks” casually drops the largest fish 😭

So what I'm getting from this video is, once the orcas are able to get their numbers up to a sizeable amount the whole planet is cooked.

something I like about this video is that its more reasonable in how animals interact with eachother. Animals aren't just casually fighting to the death every chance they get and especially intelligent animals will simply just keep their distance from fights that aren't worth the energy or time that could be spent on easier meals.

What about doing the opposite? A Subnautica species getting yeeted through the same portal that sent the Orca to 4546B?
