I was doing qi-gong training for a couple of years, and when i went in to the training-hall, the teacher always said "leave all your worries and thinking on the outside, and please shut the door to it, you can pick up the problems again when your leav, if you want. It was a great thing to say, because it had an instant effekt i remember.

I've been a Buddhist for 45 years. Mahayana made the most sense-- first Zen, and now Vajrayana.

The challenge re: keeping young monasticism in the West is to reduce the gap to where the tradition manifestation is, in bringing down a cohort of people , who are hedonistic,with low level if frustration tolerance and immersed in pleasure principle. One has to attend to their psychological needs, mentor, but true to the truth, essence of the teaching, not diluting. Rules need to be seen in their context, when created. Ate those conditions apply now. But then the danger is non enlightened people changing the original.form, to suit now, and then over 50 100 years none knows the original form and only knows things can be changed to suit the present. Teach both and why, always keep the original in the mind, with why the bridge is needed.
