The fact that people could go from healthy to dead in just a few hours… that’s nightmare fuel. The Sweating Sickness really was like history’s ghost—sudden, mysterious, and terrifying. Makes you wonder how many forgotten plagues shaped the world we live in today.

I am an American living in Tokyo, Japan and it’s 9:16 PM. I used to listen to political podcasts to sleep. I am so happy I found this. Thank you!

I feel like the sweating sickness had to also affect the brain somehow, specifically the amygdala. I say this because the first symptom was a major sense of dread.

I had never even heard of the Sweating Sickness before this, and now I’m both fascinated and horrified. The way it just appeared, took lives in hours, then vanished without explanation—it’s like history’s ultimate ghost story. These calming narrations make even the most terrifying events strangely peaceful. Subscribed and already queued up the next episode for tomorrow night.
